Emergency assistance, including financial assistance, can be obtained from many of the agencies listed below. However, you must contact the agency to determine if you meet the criteria for assistance, and if funds are available at athe time of your request. The Pro Bono Office: 770 822-8599 in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Building on Langley Drive in Lawrenceville proceeds legal assistance to low-income families, but gives priority to victims of domestic violence.

The Gwinnett Community Clinic (770) 985-1199 in Snellville provides affordable health care for families without Medicaid. The clinic is located on 32160 Fountain Drive off Hwy 78, near Wachovia Bank. Appointments may be made betwenn 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and are scheduled for evening hours.
The Miles Mason Clinic (678-442-2025) in Lawrenceville Offers primary medical and dental care. Costs are based on income.
The Gwinnett County Health Department (770 339-4283) in Lawrenceville offers immunizations, hearing, vision, WIC, women's health , family planning, treatment of some communicable diseases, and uncomplicated blood pressure. http://gwinnett.ga.gegov.com/gwinnett
THE LAWRENCEVILLE HOUSING AUTHORITY Resident Advisory Board: Each year HUD requires the Housing Authority to develop an Agency Plan. The Agency Plan details specifically how the Housing Authority will operate throughout the year. The Resident Advisory Board is responsible for assisting with the development of the plan and approving the plan. All residents are welcome to get involved; no experience is necessary.
The Power Source Center is a free after school program open to all students. The Power Source center is located in the Rich Martin development in the community center at 160 Ezzard Street. Homework assistance and youth activities are available Monday through Friday; BINGO is offered to adults during the week. Call (770) 237-0315 or (770) 963-4858 for more information. The Memorial Street Activity Center is another after school program for youth. This center is located between the New Memorial and the Floyd Braswell Apartments. Conrtact Beth Waters at (770) 963-4900, ext. 209 for more information.
Van Service: The Housing Authority offers a free van service to all residents. The van is handicapped accessible and is available to take residents to work or adult education classes, as well as for seniors to run errands. All rides must be scheduled at least a day in advance and rides are limited to the City of Lawrenceville. Children who still need to ride in car seats are not allowed to ride in the van. To get on the schedule for rides to work or classes, or to make an appointment for a ride, please call Charles Millsapps at (770) 527-7078.
A Senior Program meets first and third Thursday each month at the Main Office at Glenn Edge from 10:00 to 12:00 for socializing, BINGO, and crafts. If you need a ride, the Housing Authority van service can help. Call Beth Waters at (770) 963-4900, ext. 209 for more information.
Maintenance Services: The Housing Authority provides full maintenance services. All routine work orders should be reported to the Central Office at (770) 963-4900.
In cases of emergencies after hours, please call (404) 493-2413. Please be careful about calling in emergency work orders. If you call in an emergency work order and it is determined not be an emergency, you will be charged for the labor and supplies.
Lawrenceville Housing Authority (LHA) Resident Scholarship
The Lawrenceville Housing Authority will offer scholarships to qualified residents for tuition at accredited schools, colleges and universities. LHA will offer scholarships for tuition and expenses for fees, books, and associated costs for certificates, diplomas, undergraduate degrees, and/or any relevant self-efficiency courses. The amount of the scholarship awarded is determined by the Board of Commissioners on a case by case basis. The LHA will award scholarships before the start of the semester. It is the residents responsibility to provide the LHA with the proof of cost of tuition. Please contact Beth Bannister at 770-963-4900, ext. 202 for an application or further information.
