On Monday May 5, 2008 Rebecca Dixon was awarded a $1500.00 adult student scholarship from the Georgia Association of Housing and Redevelopment Authorities, Inc. Adult student scholarships are designed to provide the opportunity for adults to attend college and make a positive difference in the lives of their families. Ms. Dixon received her Bachelor's degree from Devry University in Technical Management and Human Resources and is currently working on her Master's degree in Public Administration. She is a full time student and works a full time job. Additionally, Ms. Dixon volunteers at the Boy's and Girl's Club and is a voter registration volunteer. Not only is Ms. Dixon a role model for her own children who are learning the value of an education through her achievements, but she is a role model for her community as well. LHA congratulates Ms. Dixon and wishes her all the best in her future endeavors!

There is a program through the Department of Human Resources called The Kinship Care Navigator Program that is here to help! It is staffed by individuals who are trained in assisting grandparents and other relatives in finding resources in their area of residence based upon their needs. Kinship navigators can assist you in finding information and making contact with area agencies and community organizations that help with housing, mental health, medical needs, disability, guardianship, transportation, utilities, etc.

Lawrenceville Boys and Girls Club 2008 Summer Program Information
There are a limited number of spaces available, so contact the Boys and Girls Club NOW to reserve your space.
The program is free to Lawrenceville Housing Authority residents. The program begins on Monday, June 2, 2008 through Friday, July 25, 2008. The program includes breakfast and lunch and transportation to and from the program is also included.
